Myotherapy is a massage therapy specialised in assessing and treating different parts of the musculoskeletal system. Myotherapy uses different techniques such as joint mobilisation, trigger point therapy, cupping, dry needling, soft-tissue massage and many more. To explain it further, the musculoskeletal system looks after the form and support of the body. It allows us to move freely while at the same time providing protection to internal organs. Today we will share some of the benefits of Myotherapy.
Unlike other massage therapies, Clinical Myotherapists at Mobilise require a Bachelor Degree qualification. This means our therapists study in depth anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, orthopaedic assessment and advanced treatment techniques.
During a myotherapy treatment, your therapist will conduct a posture analysis, check your body’s overall movement range, and apply musculoskeletal techniques such as myofascial release, muscle energy techniques and joint mobilisation. It is also very common to receive a biomechanical analysis that includes testing the muscles, joints and nerves.
You will also receive massage techniques on soft tissues to relieve pain. Once the treatment is finished, your therapist will work with you to design a home stretching and exercise program to help you increase your flexibility and muscle strength. Your therapist could also suggest good nutritional supplements to help you in the rehabilitation process.
Variation of techniques
As stated above, Myotherapy applies different techniques to provide relief and healing. Its objective is to maintain the functional position of the entire musculoskeletal system, and identify and address the causes of your pai. By using different techniques you will benefit from the particular areas each technique targets. Our aim is to get you to a place where you don’t need us!
These are only a few benefits. If you would like to know more on Myotherapy call us on (07) 3870 5990 Mobilise Toowong.
